Tulips, Peace and Quilting!

Canadian Tulip Festival

Is there anyone who doesn’t love tulips!

You know spring is close when Canada’s Tulip Festival is just around the corner. And this year they are inviting all visitors to either contribute a ribbon or piece of fabric with a message of peace/friendship written on it, or sign the outer border of the quilt.

This unique piece of textile art will be created by the Canadian Tulip Festival’s 25,000 community members, in partnership with Moon Rain Centre, www.moonrain.ca, with textile artist Gabby Ewen’s direction.

But even better — Quilting Gallery blogger Michele has invited her readers to participate by sending in a diamond piece of fabric to be added to the quilt. She’s posted instructions, a template for the 5″ diamond fabric and mailing details on her blog.

So don’t worry if you don’t live in Canada, don’t live in Ottawa or can’t make it to the May 6-23 festival. You can still have your say!
