Every fall I love to make new bags for my family – fall has always been the “new year” for our family – probably coincides with the start of the school year more than anything. And even though the school days are long past, I still feel like September is the start of my year.
I’m always searching for quick and easy projects. When I’m quilting I like projects that I can finish the top in a weekend – two at most! For bags, I’m hoping for no more than a weekend. This free pattern from Sew Easy Sew fit the bill. Definitely fast, definitely easy and what I really like is no exposed inside seams!
When this canvas from Birch Fabrics – Octoberama by Charlie Harper arrived in the shop, I knew it was perfect for my fall project. I then paired it with a natural Osnaburg (a light weight twill) for the lining. A half yard of each, with careful alignment gave me 3 bags!
What could be better than a project that only has one piece? Cut out two exterior, two lining, two interfacing on the fold and you’re good to sew.
